The Catahoula Bulldog is the result by crossbreeding the American Bulldog and Catahoula Leopard. The breed has the American Bulldog’s muscular build, tight skin, and a very short, smooth coat; undercoat develops when they are living in seasonal or colder climates. Their colors are from the Catahoula Leopard, which are white, black and white, black, brown, brown and white and sometimes even black and brown.
The Catahoula Bulldog has been in existence for more than 100 years. They’ve been mostly found for the most part in the southern United States. The farmers wanted an intelligent for herding and catching hogs, while at the same time large enough to hunt for American Black Bears. The breed is a crossbred of Catahoula Leopard Dog and The American Bulldog. Registration of the breed started in 1951. 1
