Appearance

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a small to medium sized, shaggy looking dog. The body is muscular and rectangular in shape, with a level top line, straight forelegs and a high-set docked tail. The head is medium in size despite looking larger due to the thick hair, with a large dark nose, high-set heart-shaped ears and brown eyes. The double coat is long and wiry with an unkempt look, and the coloring tends to be grey or white with black or grey, although all colors are acceptable.

History

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog probably derived from ancient Hungarian herding dogs like the Puli, not to mention various European mountain dogs and herding dogs. First discovered in Poland, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog made a name for itself herding flocks and guarding property in the lowland plains of Eastern Europe.
