The Yorkie is a small-sized, long-haired toy terrier. They have compact and well proportioned bodies. Their coat is long and silky. If the is competing for a particular dog event, the color of their coat should be steel blue and gold. But their coat color is initially black with tan points. The colors change after one year. The hair falls conveniently down the dog’s back and grows to the flow. Their tail is docked to half of the original length. They have a flat head and medium-length muzzle. They have dark eyes with dark rims. Their nose is black. Their small-sized ears are triangular and erect.
The Yorkshire Terrier (or Yorkie) is a small-sized terrier dog developed in Yorkshire, England during the 19th century to catch rats in clothing mills. At the ,time Scottish workers came by the numbers to find work, and they brought with them variety of small terriers such as the Waterside Terrier, Paisley Terrier, Clydesdale Terrie, and cross breeding them with rough-coated Black-and-Tan English Terrier. Their first appearance was at the dog show ing England in 1861. Initially, they were called "broke-haired Scotch Terrier." It wasn't until in 1870 where a reporter from a magazine quoted "they ought no longer to be called Scotch Terriers, but Yorkshire Terriers for having been so improved here." The first Yorkshire Terrier born in the US was in 1872. Today, they are a wonderful addition to the family. They are high-spirited dogs that definitely show its terrier strain.
